MINE!

A coastal brown bear lets these persistent gulls know that this shellfish is 'MINE!'. Most food obsessed gulls will keep a safe distance from a foraging bear but every now and again a brazen gull will look for an opportunity to steal the prize away. However there is another play on 'MINE' in this image. Sadly, their habitat is at risk of destruction inside Lake Clark National Park on the Bear Coast. Protection of denning habitats, bear food sources, migration corridors, pristine salmon streams, spawning grounds and wetlands should surely be prioritised in this National Park and Preserve over destructive metal mining extraction practices proposed nearby. Why risk irreversible damage, watershed contamination from toxic chemicals, in one of the world's most vibrant wilderness ecosystems..
